  • We begin working in glacier mass balance in Andes Mountain and we need some information about drill ice to put down ablation stake. We work at Hydraulic Research Institute at San Juan University in Argentina. We saw this picture and we are interesting in some equipment like this, because we are asking about a Heucke ice drill but it is very expensive for us. Your ice drill seams to be light and very easy. Can you give us some tecnical information about it.

    Thanks, regards

  • Hello Zulma.

That drill you are looking at is called a jiffy drill. Very simple and very reliable. You can start out with a few drill heads and add on depending on the depth of the ice.

    Good Luck
