Research Interests and Accomplishments
Meredith Wright is a Staff Scientist in the Infectious Disease Department at JCVI. Dr. Wright’s current research interests focus on understanding the evolutionary mechanisms contributing to the emergence and dissemination of multidrug resistant pathogens. She integrates large genomic and transriptomic datasets to characterize pathogen population dynamics and identify the genetic basis for adaptation to host and antibiotic selective pressures. Her research has implications for understanding pathogen transmission in healthcare settings and improving molecular diagnostics for pathogen identification and patient treatment strategies. Dr. Wright also has a background in ecological analysis of aquatic microbial assemblages, and relating ecosystem function to microbial community structure.
