Research Interests and Accomplishments
Dr. Rajagopala earned a Masters degree in Plant science and Microbiology from Bangalore University, India and a Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg, Germany in 2006. During his Ph.D. he carried out research on characterizing the protein interaction network of bacterial motility, human herpes viruses, and the Syphilis spirochete Treponema pallidum. Dr. Rajagopala joined The Institute of Genomics Research (TIGR) as a post-doctoral fellow in 2006.
Dr. Rajagopala's major research interest is to use and develop high-throughput technologies to characterize the protein-protein interaction maps (interactome maps). The interactomes are an indispensible tool for systems biology and aid understanding of signaling pathways and biological networks. By using the advanced high throughput yeast-two-hybrid technology, we are carrying out an exhaustive yeast two-hybrid screening to comprehensively describe all protein-protein interactions in E. coli, S. pneumonia and the protein interactions of E. coli and bacteriophage lambda.
