Dan A. Katzel
Sr. Software Engineer

Research Interests and Accomplishments

Danny Katzel is a Senior Software Engineer at the J. Craig Venter Institue. He is a member of the Viral Genomics Group, and is responsible for developing algorithms and analysis techniques to assemble and study viral genomic data. He has developed the Jillion library which can read, write, and modify various genomic read and assembly formats. He also helped develop other bioinformatics software libraries including the Elvira software suite and the complete architecture refactoring of Cloe. Mr. Katzel received his Bachelor's degree in computer science from The George Washington University.
