DiscoverGenomics! Education Program

JCVI is committed to providing science education and training programs to enhance society’s science literacy. One way our scientists support this mission is through the J. Craig Venter Institute DiscoverGenomics! Mobile Lab (DG!). DG! is a self-sufficient laboratory/learning center on wheels that provides middle school students and teachers the opportunity to learn current bioscience concepts and to master the use of laboratory equipment at no cost.

The DiscoverGenomics Mobile Lab is made possible by donations from generous sponsors and individual donors. Since January 2006, more than 20,000 students from Washington, DC and California have participated in 40,000 hands-on activities on board helping to inspire the next generation of scientists.

We need your help to fund additional DG! encounters for San Diego students. Your donation lets us support classroom science teachers, enrich their curriculum and provide them with the equipment that schools often can not acquire so that their students will be exposed to truly exciting scientific activities – experiences that can stimulate a life-long interest in science and technology.
